Winner of the 2019 competition “Against Violence: the strongest slap” funded by Mibact
The Lucha y Siesta shelter for women is a self-managed center for women victims of violence. It was started with the occupation of the Atac building ( a transportation company) in the Tuscolano neighborhood in Rome.
The building was included in the 2019 Piano di Concordato, a list of properties that need to be sold within 2021 to make up for the bad administration of Atac and save it from bankruptcy.
The shelter is threatened with shutting off utilities and forced eviction.
Lucha y Siesta, together with a wide community of citizens that support this project, are fighting to keep this from happening.
