Y lab – Workshop on Videomhacking

Alessandro Balena is the project manager of Y lab, a workshop on videomhacking supported by Dinamo Film and Associazione Inuit.

“Videomhacking” is a neologism which describes the interaction between hacking, technological innovation and digital storytelling aimed to transform the way we tell stories through the video.

The workshop will take place in the Baronial Castle of Castrignano de’ Greci (Lecce) from the 17th to the 31st of July 2014.  It will be made up of about 100 hours of didactic work (8 hours per day). International teachers and tutors will participate and coordinate 3 research/project tables.

Lectures (kept every day from 2 to 3 pm) will be open to everybody and available on streaming on the website.
Once the workshops are over, a press conference will take place to show the reached goals.

Participants will learn about methods and technologies that could make already existing production segments more efficient by reducing production costs, by stimulating the self as a form of self-employment and by developing hybrid design capabilities, outcome of contamination between different professions, thus opening up a world of opportunities,

The project is addressed to designers, makers and hackers in the publishing (digital and traditional) and video (cinema,tv,web) field. Students and professionals about cinema, writing, script-writing or storytelling, informatics, interaction design. WANNABE “video” and “book” hackers. Digital artisans. Innovators. Pirates.
